For those of our family and community traveling to Western Massachusetts from afar,
this information should help with your travel arrangements.
The Pioneer Valley area of Western Massachusetts centers around the towns of Amherst, Hadley
and Northampton. Out-of-town guests may choose to stay in any of these three
towns, which are connected by a free bus line and a major road. The drive from Northampton to Hadley
to Amherst is about 15-20 minutes total.

airports
The closest airport to Amherst is Bradley International Airport in Hartford, Connecticut, which is an easy 45-minute
drive. Alternate airports are Boston, Massachusetts and Manchester, New Hampshire. Much of Ben's family lives
in the Manchester area and may be able to carpool with guests arriving at the Manchester airport.

From the airport, take I-91 north to exit 19. Turn right off the exit ramp, onto Route 9. Follow Route 9
through Hadley to its intersection with Route 116. The intersection of Routes 9 & 116 is the center of
Amherst.

From the airport, take I-93 south toward Boston. Exit onto 495 south. Take 495 south until I-90 west
(the Mass Pike). Continue on the Mass Pike past Springfield (about 2 hours) and exit onto I-91 North. Take
exit 19 off of I-91, and turn right onto Route 9. Continue on Route 9 through Hadley until it intersects with Route
116. The intersection of Routes 9 and 116 is the center of Amherst.

We strongly urge you to support local business and minimize your environmental impact by staying at a bed and breakfast,
as opposed to a chain hotel. Luckily, the rates at area b&b's start even lower than area hotels, and offer much
more local charm and character. All lodgings listed below are located within 5 miles of downtown Amherst,
and most of them are historic Victorian-style homes.
