The New England Peace Pagoda is a stupa built by Japanese nuns and monks of the Nipponzan Myohoji sect of Buddhism, whose aim is the attainment of world peace.  The stupa is a sealed dome intended for circumambulation, and it holds a relic of the Buddha inside.

The Peace Pagoda sits majestically atop a thickly wooded hill outside Amherst, Massachusetts.  The pagoda reveals itself through the trees at the summit of a steep hike, and you emerge from the woods into its meadow.  It is surrounded by several forest paths, numerous meditation spaces, and a tranquil pond.  Laurel and Ben have spent many peaceful summer days with the pond's frogs and giant goldfish and wandering the wooded trails.

The Peace Pagoda is a sacred spiritual space, and is unique among places of worship.  To explore more, visit the official website or this informative article.
